As part of Meghalaya’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Mission, the State is partnering with faith leaders and community institutions to strengthen their role in educating communities on the importance of Early Childhood development, thereby bringing together, Faith and Science towards the mission fulfilment.
The A’chik Baptist Dalgipa Krima – ABDK faith leaders have partnered with the Meghalaya ECD Mission to cultivate comprehensive environments for children and adolescents, alongside nurturing ecosystems conducive to responsible parenting within their communities. A two-day training programme was held at the Mission Compound in Tura, West Garo Hills District between March 12th and 13th, 2024. It witnessed the participation of about 47 faith leaders from 17 Krimas or associations affiliated with A’chik Baptist Dalgipa Krima ABDK.
The training familiarized Church leaders with the fundamentals of ECD concepts and on the importance of investing in their early childhood period through activities such as Sensitization and Capacity building on Nurturing Care, ECD concepts as well as Positive Parenting. Emphasis was laid on the fact that the child begins to develop from the time of conception in the mother’s womb, which sets the foundation for their future, highlighting a significant shift in understanding time and life’s beginnings.
The trained Church leaders will now disseminate their knowledge on the importance of ECD and its concepts within their respective platforms as master trainers.
