The government of Meghalaya seeks to undertake the “Multisectoral Project for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER)” with support from the World Bank. The project proposes a set of coordinated, multisectoral interventions that will strengthen the capability of the State of Meghalaya to empower adolescent boys and girls aged 10 to 19 through interventions in education, skills, and counselling that can strengthen their human capital and support their transition from school to productive work. The implementing agency for the project will be the Planning, Investment Promotion & Sustainable Development Department (PIP&SDD). The goal of the project is to promote the well-being and empowerment of adolescents and to strengthen their productivity and resilience so that they can contribute fully to the sustainable economic growth of the State. The World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) will be applicable to the project, along with relevant national laws of India and applicable laws and regulations of the State of Meghalaya.
