Under the Human Development Leadership Programme (HDLP)—a flagship initiative of the Meghalaya State Capability Enhancement Project—a dedicated team led by the Additional Development Commissioner visited Nongpriang Village in Mairang Block, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
The field visit aimed to bridge governance and community realities by addressing key challenges and unlocking opportunities. Nongpriang, home to 89 households, faces significant barriers like:
- Isolation during monsoons due to a lack of a bridge.
- Absence of a dedicated Anganwadi Centre, making early childhood development difficult.
- Poor healthcare access due to limited road connectivity.
Yet, the village also shines with hope and progress:
- Strong school enrollment and minimal dropout rates reflect the community’s commitment to education.
* Agriculture sustains livelihoods, with potential for growth through further support and resources.
This visit wasn’t just an assessment—it was a conversation about collaboration and solutions. HDLP continues to drive sustainable development by engaging communities, listening to their needs, and fostering compassionate leadership.
