Fathers Take an Active Role in Early Childhood Development

Mawdiangdiang, Mawpat | 18 August 2026

Ten fathers of children under three took part in the HDLP–ECD Community Meeting held at Mawdiangdiang Community Hall on 18 August 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for fathers to learn and discuss the importance of Early Childhood Development (ECD) and the role families can play in supporting young children during their early years.

Through interactive activities and discussions, the fathers explored how children grow, learn and develop, and why the early years are important for building a strong foundation for the future.

The session also introduced Learning Through Play, showing how simple activities and everyday objects can be used to help children learn while they play. Fathers were encouraged to see play as an important part of a child’s development and as something families can support at home.

The participation of the 10 fathers added an important voice to the community discussion on ECD, reinforcing that supporting young children is a shared responsibility within the family and community.

The meeting in Mawdiangdiang was a step towards creating greater awareness and involvement among families in giving children a strong start in life.
